Kanji in JLPT order
You collect kanji in exam order: the gentle N5 set down south, climbing steadily to N1 up north. Reach the top of the map and you'll have met every jōyō kanji a fluent reader needs.

Each new character is woven into the true story of a real place and used several different ways in plain English sentences — so you see how one kanji bends across meanings long before it's ever quizzed.

Arrive at the next town
You travel the country in order, south to north. Every stop is a real Japanese place, and the map shows the whole road ahead — every town, coloured by the JLPT level it teaches.

Each town is a short, true profile — history, food, sights and festivals, today and across the centuries. The new kanji for that stop are highlighted right in the text and shown working in real sentences. Tap any word for its reading, meaning and stroke order.

Clear the grammar checkpoints
When the road ahead introduces new Japanese grammar, a 🚧 checkpoint pauses you and points you to the matching Guided Learning lesson first — so the Japanese in the readings never gets ahead of what you've studied.
Watch the language shift
The earliest stops are told in English with kanji mixed in. The further north you travel, the more the readings turn into real Japanese — by the far north you've covered the full N5→N1 kanji and grammar, reading nearly on your own.
